Politics Shmolitics
I was gonna watch the debate tonight and just relax buuuuut my roomates informed me of their intentions to roll the worlds largest snowball. So 1.5 hrs later, a dozen spectators and eight extra men pushing we got that 5 foot baby down the staircase of the Ellicott Complex.
Aaaand then we drilled random people in the head with snowballs. Pictures eventually
Absolultely love the early October snowfall.
Seriously, you gotta set your priorities right sometimes.
Nothing has changed
The sun was shining in Amherst eary today, and the air was perfect for a good college football game.
But this was a UB football game.
Wow. A quick scoring drive by Ball State followed by a punt block in the endzone and it was 14-0 with 10 minutes left in the 1st quarter.
The UB offense was pathetic against one of the worst defenses in D-1. Only in the 4th did Willy (who threw for over 300 yards) and the rest of the offense move the ball thanks to Ball State going into prevent.
Stupid penalties, missed tackles, and an inept offense. Welcome to 1994-2005.
God speed, Turner Gill, God speed.
Oh but I do have good news, cornerback Gary Rice keeps trying to get my female friend to get in an orgy with him. w00t.
UB 2020

UB on UB 2020 plan
Buffalo Biz Journal on UB 2020 plan
UB President, John B. Simpson spoke at the Albright Knox Art Gallery earlier about “UB 2020″, the school’s master growth plan that has been in the works since Simpson took the helm a couple years back.
From what I know, most of it is all talk. Simpson hasn’t done too much since getting to UB. Admissions has slowly creeped up and the athletic program is more stable and organized. The downtown campus has nothing to do with him, hundreds of undergrads are living in hotels since the school contiunes to increase admissions without building new housing, and some faculty complain that Simpson wants UB to be influenced by his Cal cronies and no one else.
I will say this though. UB is attempting to atone for their sins they committed against the City of Buffalo by reinvesting in South Campus and building a Downtown Campus…something President Greiner didn’t seem to care much for.
Simpson says he wants the Light Rail to expand to North Campus, he wants to expand the Downtown Campus, and make South Campus stronger. He wants to take UB to the next level in size and academic stature. Although the ideals are cliche and his plans far from concrete I believe that the school and Simpson really are ready to go to the next level and committ to the city and the region.
Oh the irony

It’s kinda ironic that the only physically appealing aspect of UB Amherst campus are ruins from Downtown Buffalo that were replaced with a surface lot.
That is all.
A fresh start tonight

New logo, new coach, and no longer ranked 119 out of 119 (113 baby!). A record crowd is expected tonight and since the Bisons finale is already sold out you don’t have anywhere else to go. We’re playing a Temple team that finished 0-11 last year… WE CAN DO IT!
Chances are its the only UB football game you’ll go to so you might as well make it this one.
Plate hustlin’

Since before I was born, my parents have owned a pretty serious collection of Buffalo China. And only recently was I informed that my mom collected it by stealing it from the UB dining halls back in 1979.
Is it wrong that I just laugh whenever I remember why we have this set?
May white fear never end

So my friend recieved an email from her roomate for the fall. Here’s how it goes….
”
Hey….I just went to south campus with andrew for the first time, and i went to clement. ive basically been miserable ever since i saw it….im really not comftorable living there, its not really in the location that i thought it was in in the least bit….im like freaking out about going back to school….do u think there would ever be a way we could transfer onto north campus?”
This is annoying. That neighborhood has benn a part of my life since I was born. I only know of one incident that wasn’t related to personal beef between two parties. And at UB there have been a few isolated incidents over the years but none involving people in their dorms with the “scary men” lurking around.
God damn. This is what can happen when you live in a sheltered white suburbanite community downstate all your life. Hopefully my friend makes her stay there and perhaps she’ll realize living in a black neighborhood isn’t so bad. Cuz I’m pretty sick of people hating on my neighborhood.
UB in da club
UB basketball great, Turner Battle, has faded off our radars since he left for Europe but never fear…not only is he doin his thang in Sweeden, he’s partying it up in the offseason back in the states…
i give you proof…

(look at the heavy set white guy on the right. someone has jungle fever.)
New look for UB

Today UB unveiled their new look which replaces an already decent looking logo of a blue Buffalo with a pierced nose.
This one looks even better although the “Buffalo” script has a cheesy mid-conference wannabe cool look. But all in all its good. Not to mention the helmets are losing the horns and bringing back the interlocking U and B. Classy. Hopefull not only do we look nice but we play nice too next year.
With a new AD coming from a solid athletic program (Michigan), a new football coach who used to quarterback Nebraska, a new athletic center for the football team, a new playing surface, and now a new look- UB is making an effort to trun the football program like never seen before…hopefully it turns out as planned.
But I didn’t shoot the food service cook

This is a UB student and JFK HS grad my friends and I refer to as “Fresh 2 Death”. He wears his aviators at ALL times…including events that are indoors and in the dark. He also wears a HUGE gold encrusted belt with his name on it. Anyways…he’s really chill, real fly…nothing can phase him.
So on Monday I went to Student Union for dinner and awaited my order, next to me was Mr.Fresh, dancing…the chef came to the front and the next thing I see is Mr.Fresh taking out a toy gun and saying “Gimme my food!” The chef jumped back and the manager came running in to yell at Mr.Fresh for his actions…
…his case will be heard infront of the Student Judiciary Committee.
Sorry for the random stories about random people in the Buffalo area, just though I’d share.
