You Are Reading The Sabres Section

“I’ll have what he’s having”

My cousin works at the Fuji Grill on Maple Road in Amherst and pretty much anytime I ask her about work she has stories of Sabres she waited on the week prior.

This week Spacek, Vanek, and Miller ate at Fuji and an interesting phenomenon occured…everyone wanted to order what they were eating…until my cousin told them the price of the desired item.

And apparently they tip 20%…aniice.

So if you like Japanese food and the Sabres…you should probably stop by the Fuji Grill for dinner. But you better tip Mirai well.

Winning is Fun!

The Bills finally got back on track with a nice 24-10 victory today. The defense came up with some big plays, which almost always means a win for the good guys. Clutch Evans-Losman hookup in the 4th followed by the A-Train Anthony Thomas getting better as the game went on, locking up the win for Buffalo who goes into Indy next week with a 3-5 record. Moorman was amazing and Losman barely saved himself a quarteback controversy.

An hour later, the Sabres took on the Rangers and for a while it looked like they wouldn’t come out of NYC with a point. Lots of penalties cost the Sabres but the better team prevailed in the 3rd by scoring a couple nice goals to tie it up.
We finally avoided a shootout and won it on a nice goal by Briere. Biron played well but most importantly…he has a super-spiffy new helmet. Next game is Friday downtown against Florida

And yesterday UB kicked some major Kent State ass yesterday with a 41-14 win. NFHS graduate James Starks ran for 162 yards. Of course that’s the one UB game I miss this season.

Bound to happen

example
We finally lost a game in regulation and we finally lost to Toronto at the HSBC Arena so that’s really no big deal.

But ummm Afinogenov is out for “a while” according to Lindy Ruff…that is a big deal.

Tomorrow 5pm @ the Madison Square Garden. Hopefully with Biron in net

Wwwwwwwow.

example

That was absolutely incredible. I came home from Architecture and the guys in my room who were watching it already gave up and turned to the WVU-Louisville game. We turned back to watch Boston extend the lead to 4-2.
Went to the ATM thinking the game was over, but when I came back 30min later I heard Rick Jeanarette’s voice yelling and four guys in the dorm all excited.

4-4 GOING INTO SHOOT OUT WTF?!?!

Yeeeah these guys are incredible.

All good things come to an end

example
The magical run finally ended tonight at the HSBC Arena, with the Sabres losing 5-4 in a shootout. Sabres never had the lead and everytime they tied it up Atlanta immediately responded.

That goal by Hecht was quite exciting though…it’s amazing how we seem to always come up with the clutch goal.

Nothing to be ashamed of. Got 21 out of a 22 possible points to start the season.

Umm what else is new?

Example
Afinogenov is still the points leader in the NHL after adding two more tonight including a sweeeet breakaway goal in the 3-0 victory. Miller got his 1st shutout of the year. We go for the NHL record for most consecutive wins to start a season.

Good god this is the most amazing professional sports team I have ever seen.

Wowzers

example
I missed tonights game due to a significant amount of work but I came back to my dorm to find out we won 4-1 and I’m just amazed.
I really thought this would be the night we lost. Montreal prolly gave us the best match any other opponent has given us barring Carolina, and it was in Montreal. But apparently Miller was dominant and we just shut les Habitants down like whoa.

It’s beautiful…it’s also a team record.

Next game Thursday v. Ted Nolan on the Island.

Eight is great!

Example
This game was pretty easy. For once we played a genuinely bad team and it showed. Once again that Vanek-Roy-Afinogenov line fricken dominated and Biron played a solid game, getting better as the game went on. Honestly, this is the best hockey team I’ve ever seen play-and I’ve seen a lot of hockey. So fast, so smart, so determined…mmmmm delicious!

Next game Monday at Montreal @730

Can’t stop, won’t stop

Example
Ooooweee! Sabres did it again tonight, beating Carolina for the second time this year,5-4. Vanek who has been solid so far this year, took his game to a whole other level practically dominating the Canes in the 3rd period. He had a goal and an assist and drew two penalties towards the end of the game. While last year he was productive he was not coming close to his potential most of the time…perhaps this year will be what we expected out of him.
Afinogenov had 3 points which gives him 12 in 7 games. Not too shabby.
Miller was eh. Stopped 17 shots. Hopefully Biron gets the start tomorrow

At Boston 7pm

7-0! 12 straight wins…team record!

Didn’t deserve it, but we’ll take it

example
Remember those days in which the Sabres would beat opponents who outplayed us thanks to the stellar play of Dominik Hasek? Well they’re back again apparently, execpt with Dom on the opposing side. Ryan Miller was just…augh…amazing. And clutch. Over 40 saves tonight.
Sabres looked like crap for the most part, especially in the 1st period, but somehow managed to just get by with 17 shots on goal…kinda like the City of Buffalo (except for the 17 shots on goal part).

Briere does it again in the shootout, and Ryan Miller is more amazing with each game.

4-0!

PS-Kinda hope tomorrow’s game is postponed…who the hell is gonna show up?
