Tor-Buf-Chester Wings (!?)

Well at least Tor-Buf Wings…
My roomate wanted to order some food from Duffs and I recommended their beef on weck-one issue-the beef on weck wasn’t on the menu…??!?
Noticing that the menu is a bit pricer than I remembered, I clicked on “Locations” and saw two maps of different locales in downtown Toronto

and then an ‘oh btw’ of the original on Sheridan.
Apparently Duff’s franchised out to Toronto in 1998 and just recently opened a second location. Anyone else knew this? Completely caught me off guard.
And by the way…do Torontonians not want to experience beef on weck? Come on…
W.J. Morrissey’s: The food

I covered the construction so now it was finally time to try out the place. The interior is really high quality in case you haven’t already heard and the service was very good (my friends and i were one of only a handful of customers so I would expect so).
The Irish aren’t known for cullinary masterpieces so I wasn’t expecting too much. I had the fish and chips that had a great dark beer batter, the fish itself was pretty good and the fries were good too. The coleslaw was awful though.
My friends ordered a reuben and a pannini and both were content-not amazed-with their choices.
So decent food, good service, and really good ambiance. Not bad for what was an abandoned loading dock a year ago.
Oh by the way: They show all the Notre Dame games from a large flat screen TV on Saturdays…although this might not be the year to watch Notre Dame football. But it is the year to try out Morrissey’s.

Isn’t this kind of not allowed?

I went downtown in late August after a couple weeks in Maryland and saw that the Dragon Express had a hole in its’ window. No good. Came back another time and it had some cardboard over it. Okay not cool. Came back later and there was MORE cardboard on it.
IT HAS BEEN FIVE MONTHS.
The same administration that is ready to pick nits with the Buffalo Beast making a prank phone call to the mayors office has let a restaurant right in the heart of downtown Main Street have some crap cardboard cover their entrance.
Apparently they have some loyal and very defensive customers. When I took these pictures these two kids on their way into the restaurant I believe flicked me off and called me a “bitch-ass nigga”. I actually dissagree with that statement.
Other than that and the pretty cheap interior I’m gonna give some props to the folks at the Dragon Express. They have a $4.50 all you can eat lunch buffet and they’re open when everything else on the street is closed.
But seriously. Five months? You can’t fix a window in five months? This is Buffalo 2006…not 1986…we take care of things now.
Wegmans=Awesomeness

Just wondering. Is their anything that Wegmans makes that DOESN’T taste like amazingness?
I had two Marco Polo bagels just by themselves as if they were bread and it made my night. I’ve never even heard of “Marco Polo” anything. But whatever it is…good god its beautiful and delicious.
AND DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE SUBS.
Just think that over 90% of the world does not have a Wegmans nearby. See, Buffalo is spoiled sometimes.
I fricken love Buffalo sometimes

My friend and I had a pretty unsatisfying dinner at Century Grill tonight, so to make up for it we went to Anderson’s.
Good God that hit the spot! It was a hot summer night in Buffalo and enjoying a nice vanilla custard with sprinkles outside with a friend was just…awesome.
Spreading our wings

The Anchor Bar is opening up a second location. That location?
Charlotte, North Carolina
[begin sarcasm]
I. Am. Shocked.
[end sarcasm]
This furthers the possiblity of my idea. Soon American cities will have not only “Chinatowns” but “Buffalotowns”. With our heavily dispersed population we will see sections of downtowns with Anchor Bars, Mighty Tacos, Jim Steak-Outs, Andersons, and Ted’s Hot Dogs.
Laugh all you want-it will happen.
1st in Charlotte of course.
