My monopoly is in jeopardy

Haven’t been on the computer in a few days. When I get onto BuffaloRising I see they’ve started doing downtown construction photos too.
Oh BR.O…it’s SO on.
But thanks for the shoutout in your January magazine…not gonna lie…I blushed a little.
Rose colored blog

What would you say if you only knew of one source for food reviews in your city. And then today you find out their official policy is to NEVER give a bad review?
I don’t know…I still see BRO as a primary source for news involving most things in the city but this doesn’t sound like solid journalism.
Basically BRO is a hype-machine. A hype-machine I check 10 times a day and enjoy thoroughly, but a hype-machine…from things as big as downtown development all the way down to a dish at an unknown restaurant…and thats a bit of a dissapointment.
I do not own rose colored glasses.

I know it’s a bit late but I felt the need to let my opinions be known on this matter.
Lou Dobbs had a “special edition” of his CNN show at the Ashbury Church about the dying middle class of America.
BuffaloRising had a post about it called “Lou D O DOUBLE B S” [ooooh clever!].
It was crap. And so were most of the comments. I have no problem with people being very optimistic about Buffalo and wanting to make sure we’re portrayed in a positive light but pick your spots and don’t deny our faults. We are what we are!
I got to watch it replayed at 11:30pm Thursday night and I thought it was a perfectly fair show. It discussed the increasing medical insurance costs, and the rapid loss of manufacturing jobs in the US. Dobbs chose Buffalo because we epitomize the old concept of the American middle class. Good neighborhoods, lots of manufacturing jobs to go around, strong public schools, and an affordable way of life. Outside of the last one…we’ve lost the others and it reflects perfectly the decline of the middle class in America.
The truth is the truth. We’re a city that struggles more than most.
Lou Dobbs did not come here to talk about our architecture or how cool Elmwood Ave is or about Bashar Issa’s proposed skyscraper or New Era’s new store and headquarters. And there’s nothing wrong with that fact.
He took a minute to talk about the Ashbury church and said it was a great example of giving back to and being involved in ones community.
Buffalo has lots of good stuff, true. Buffalo also continues to lose jobs and population…also true.
We’re never going to get better unless everyone can accept the problems we have.

Oh man, this one was beautiful…
“Does anyone have any idea the millions of dollars that could be pumped into our local economy! Yet our NFTA and GBNRTC wont even submit the applications! Now thats worthy of tar and feathering! Someone should look up the NFTA Board of Directors find out their home addresses and spit on them and their families!”
Worthy of a tar and feathering?!?!!?
Find the addresses of the NFTA Board of Directors and spit on them and their families!?!?
That, my friends, is so fuckin beautiful.
And that is why I’ll be sad to see BR crack down on these dudes
Anyways, check it out to see if anymore gems come up…
UPDATE: Ooooh, oooooh! I found one more I’d like to share…
“If Rochester finds the federal and state money to bring back their subway system 1927 - 1957 and Buffalo continues to sit on its ass and say that it cannot then I will publish the home addresses of the NFTA President and Board along with the names of their kids so someone can open a hole in their head for the light of day to penetrate their dark souls!
These people really need to be executed in Niagara Square for participating in the destruction of our city! Treat them just like the italians treated Mussolini….hang them and their kids in Niagara Square and let people beat their bodies until they fall apart. Thats what the NFTA Board and Meckler deserve!”
HAHAAHAHAAHA. Oh man this guy is CLASSIC. And probably the same dude also known as “L”
The end of an era

Augh. Looks like BuffaloRising is finally gonna put a stopto the psycho cyber-losers who spend their lives trashing everyone in the comments section
But I am a strong man, I will find something else to entertain me…hopefully
RIP “L” and all the others.

Wow. So on BuffaloRising there is this one guy named “L”. He responds to everything. I also believe he is the same man on the CRTC site who said we should all hunt down and decapitate members of the NFTA. But I digress.
He doesn’t just respond. He takes things personally and retalliates with very very very long detailed letters…and then goes ALL CAPS ON YOUR ASS. We love him…not so much.
I made the mistake of….LEAVING A COMMENT on BR today saying that its okay that Rochester got a center for excellence in something because they’re struggling even more than Buffalo so its okay they get something too. Sadly this meant an all out assult.
So I quote…
“Mark & Fargo how magnanimous of you to spread Buffalos economic future around the state but before you do may I recommend that you search to find out that Rochester has multiple Centers for Excellence while Buffalo has only one!
5.1) Center for Excellence in Infotonics
5.2) Center for Excellence in Optoelectronics
5.3) Center for Excellence in Photonics
5.4) Center for Excellence in AutoImmune Diseases (Huntingtons, HIV, etc)
6) Mark and Fargo, Id like to also inform you that NYS Center for Environment and Energy is located Syracuse.
http://www.syracusecoe.org/
http://www.esf.edu/energycenter/
So please explain to everyone why you think that Rochester deserves a NATIONAL CENTER FOR EXCELLENCE IN ROCHESTER when NYS’s Center is in Syracuse and when Buffalo has more companies than Rochester and Syracuse involved in Material Science, Power Generation and Distribution and Alternative Energy.
Please explain why NYSs Center is in Syracuse but Hillary Clinton wants a National Center in Rochester! Will you not demand fairness, self respect, dignity for your hometown Buffalo! Have you no backbone to fight for your cities economic rights and future!
Why do I call Hillary Clinton a pig in a dress? Because look at how she wants to give the golden egg of yet another Center for Excellence to Rochester while ignoring Buffalo…..and here is where the pig part comes in….look at the pork she has delivered to her constituents who voted for her in Buffalo COMPARED TO THE PORK SHE HAS PUT IN HER OWN CAMPAIGN FUND NOT JUST FOR HER RE-ELECTION AS SENATOR BUT HER RUN FOR THE PRESIDENCY! THIS LITTLE PIGGY IS SITTING AT THE TABLE AND KEEPING ALL THE BACON FOR HER OWN SELFISH INTERESTS TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE BUFFALONIANS WHO TRUSTED HER, BELIEVED IN HER AND ELECTED HER!”
…so yeah I say that a certain commenter on BR hasn’t gotten laid in a while.
Hi. Get a life. #3

This one focuses on the proposals for 878 Main street in the medical corridor. ZepoMetrics wants to buy this building and use it for company expansion. Another wants to make it apartments that appeal to the medical campus students. For the 1st time that I can remember, a development issue on BR gets the actual people involved to comment. Thorough, insightful comments.
But of course, there are…THE OTHERS.
Amidst all the maturity and seriousness of these developers discussing their proposals at greater length as well as a scientist from the area adding his three or four cents, some people turned it into a 6th grade “he said, she said”
Enjoy.

Today we see one man who complains about the service at Globe…and here comes the discussion. Amusing to see one man have to constantly defend his stance that the service isnt that great.
Hi. Get a life.

This is a segment I should have started a long time ago. Everyone likes to insult the BuffaloNews and I dont blame them, but I’m gonna take the road less traveled and take some hits at BR (which by the way is an awesome site I check about 10x a day-but still). So today I throw a punch…
On the heart of Bailey ave. there is a new “FastTrac” gas station. A very big one with a decent selection of things to buy in the store. In case you don’t know-Bailey Ave is a dump. Complete. Dump. Embarassing, and mostly sad. So now we see something new, something that helps the comunity. But nooooooo…here come the armchair snotty-architects destroying and trashing its urban design
DUDE. ITS. A. GAS. STATION……….(on Bailey ave at that)
Look, I’ve seen one sexy example of urban design for a gas station and that is the Allentown Trading Company gas station. Everything else looks standard, and thats just fine w.me
(urban planning major<— )
So yeah last I checked theres a huge comment brawl going on about its design and how its terrible for not being up to the street and blah blah blah. Wow some people need a friggin life. Let the people have their damn gas station.
Go check it out, its nice to laugh at people sometimes.
