And the award for corniest Buffalonian goes to…

There’s so much competition but Kevin O’Connell always goes out of his way to show just how corny one can be.

Every night on WGRZ 11 o’clock news, someone will be reading a teaser for a story coming up and then Kevin will make a pun from that story and apply it to the weather. Sometimes its really awkward-like when its about someone who has cancer, but usually its just amazingly cheesy.

Tonight:
Scott Levin:”Apple is releasing new iPod’s”
O’Connell: “Well the only thing our weather is playing on our iPod is ‘Hot Hot Hot!’”

Office Space

An interesting review of the office space market downtown in Monday’s Buffalo News. The vacany rate continues to drop and the Class A space availiblity is even smaller than the 3.8ish it was last year.

One particularly interesting note was Paladino saying 50 court is ready to go once the lawsuit was covered up. If this is true then we can look forward to one less surface lot in the CBD and another 10 story glass/metal structure after about a decade’s worth of waiting.

With a molasses-like slowly growing economy, a lot of these spaces are coming from local companies who want to upgrade their facilities. Does this mean if suburban developers invest in upgrading their facilities to Class A downtown can’t grow at the rate it is now? And does this mean that a cure to struggling downtowns is merely providing Class A space?

Questions aside, Downtown Buffalo can very easily overtake Amherst soon as the core of local business with the way things are going right now.

Buffalo Lives

After picking up empty heroine bags along Niagara Street, Saturday morning, it was picture time with some local celebrities…

The mayor…

JP Losman…

Peerless Price…

Coy Wire…

Josh Stamer…

Alex Van Pelt drove around in a golf cart handing out “Round Up” for all the weeds growing out of the sidewalks, and Brian Moorman could be seen spotted brushing up stuff around the new courthouse site.

Later on in the day when the event was long over my friends and I saw JP with a couple people still doing landscaping…I don’t think I can ever have a negative opinion of Losman anymore after I’ve witnessed how much he genuinely cares about Buffalo.
