Update
I looked out the window of my hotel in Montreal and there is a fleet of vans that say
“JAMES GRIFFIN: PLUMBER”
…I already love this city
So far NYC=Intense, Boston=Incredible, Burlington=Nice, Montreal= tres sale/tres cool (dirty but very cool still). Obvs a large load of pictures/posting when I come back
Oh…I’ll be enjoying game 5 from Ottawa tomorrow.
Mini-vacation
I bid Buffalo farewell and begin travels to Pittsburgh, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, and Boston.
Be back in a week.
No more purple/pink pictures!
In 2003 I got a Canon Powershot A60 for $250. 3x zoom with 2.0 megapixels (!) It served me well until the calendar year turned to 2007.
No more wierd looking skies, no pixelated zooms…I gots me a Canon Powershot A550 (4x zoom, 7.1 megapixels!) because like any good Buffalonian, I have serious brand loyalty issues.
Ellicott Commons construction 5.11.07

All Termini’s Commons need are retailers and the whole thing is pretty much ready to go. I like it, it connects to the IS Lofts and creates a bit of a community vibe. But walking around I get the sense one of two things will happen
1. The retail just doesn’t work
2. The retail component absorbs most of the market potential for downtown retail since the residential base is still pretty small.
I like the project and I think that it might start off pretty slow but as the residential base slowly builds up it could become a successful project.
New building? Great! When’s the lawsuit!?

Didn’t have computer access for a couple days but I have to have some sort of post on the new Gates Circle Condos…
They look hawtttt.
Oh and I think I figured out that “Lawsuit” is around step two or three in the official procedures for significant development in Buffalo. Rules are rules ya know?
The Buffalo News’ coverage
Here’s BRO’s coverage and EPIC comment section

It is all we have left here…
Great article in the Columbus Dispatch about the culture and image of Buffalo in relation to the Sabres…
I must say though, it feels wierd to have stuff said and written about your city as if we’re some facinating exhibit in a museum…a city that once was and continues to die slowly and the writers from Columbus or Nashville or wherever look down at us in fascination.
Buffalo: 2 to 3 degrees of separation max.
I swear that everyone in Buffalo knows each other or has a good friend in common. Since coming back to Buffalo I’ve already become connected not only to people my age throughout the region, but even connected to public officials, media members, high corporate figure…and thats not including the people I’ve met through blogging.
Yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Lancaster. He asked me about how my persuit of purchasing one of those $1 East Side homes went and it turned out that the guy who helped show me the property (FixBuffalo’s David Torke) went on a few dates with my friends mother.
Now I know thats not a huge deal but I figured there was no way my friend would have any sort of significant connection to someone like David…seriously, this kind of stuff only happens in Buffalo or SmallTown, USA.
Long time no write
Ah the joys of the end of the semester…as in writing papers/studying/taking exams are the three big things in my life right now.
I’m done tomorrow. I’ll have some usual material, and then I shall embark upon a journey…
Pittsburgh, Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, and Boston will be visited over the course of the next three weeks and I’ll obviously be sharing that with y’all.
Buffalo=Fashionable

Checking out the sale items at UrbanOutfitters.com since anything else they have is out my price range and I came across this!
Bills fans aren’t known for being on the cutting edge of fashion (although I have a lot of respect for people who rock Zubaz pants) but now they can look chique…kinda.
