Different opponent-same result

Friday night…5-4 in OT
Saturday night…5-4 in OT

Biron gave up eight goals in back to back nights and the team blew a two goal lead in both but it didn’t really matter. Why is that? Cuz we’re the fricken Buffalo Sabres. We just don’t know how to lose a game.

Good sign in tonights game was that we played a team who tried to distract us by starting fights which just doesn’t seem to happen much in the NHL anymore…but we held our own in the duels although I kinda sorta dont want to see Paetsch fight too much.

Next game Monday at Carolina.

Paladino UNCENSORED

example
Saw Carl Paladino on the cover of Artvoice so I had to pick it up. I saw the piece was written by Bruce Jackson so I lost the excitement quickly but no worries-it’s a word for word transcript of an TOTALLY AWESOME interview-not you’re typical rhetoric filled, slam piece by Jackson. Paladino is in fullllll form in this one and for the most part I agree with him.

Although people from UB are totally NOT liberal elitists k?

TDA’s Final Show write-up

example
I missed my favorite local band’s (This Day and Age) last show last Saturday at Club Infinity for another show which I shall discuss at a later post.

Although I really wanted to go it’s okay…the same girl who gave me mono last winter did a write-up of it in today’s Buffalo News. Kristen asks some of the burning questions inside the minds of all TDA fans and the band’s answers make me happy…a new band minus the lead singer with writing underway!

“I’ll have what he’s having”

My cousin works at the Fuji Grill on Maple Road in Amherst and pretty much anytime I ask her about work she has stories of Sabres she waited on the week prior.

This week Spacek, Vanek, and Miller ate at Fuji and an interesting phenomenon occured…everyone wanted to order what they were eating…until my cousin told them the price of the desired item.

And apparently they tip 20%…aniice.

So if you like Japanese food and the Sabres…you should probably stop by the Fuji Grill for dinner. But you better tip Mirai well.

A sneak peek at Artspace

example
Sorry…for my eyes only (I left the camera in the dorm). Anyways, our law and urban planning class got an inside look at Artspace on Main street last Monday with
Will Law (chief financial officer of Artspace), Steven Weiss whose law firm (Cannon, Heyman & Weiss) specializes in affordable housing finance, and Matt Meier from Hamilton Houston & Lownie
The space in the old buidling is awesome. Huge floor with a lot of potential for commercial art use and the upper levels have great living spaces with everything staying in tact for the most part in order to give that authentic urban feel to the residents, as well as some white walls to work with artistically.
The financial work that went into making this project happen is astonishing and the words form the head of Artspace USA…flattering. He and his team is sold on Buffalo and is cetain that it will breed life back into Main Street.

Sometimes you need to visit places like these, and talk to people like the guys that headed this project to remind yourself that there is hope here and you’re not the only one left that cares.

Winning is Fun!

The Bills finally got back on track with a nice 24-10 victory today. The defense came up with some big plays, which almost always means a win for the good guys. Clutch Evans-Losman hookup in the 4th followed by the A-Train Anthony Thomas getting better as the game went on, locking up the win for Buffalo who goes into Indy next week with a 3-5 record. Moorman was amazing and Losman barely saved himself a quarteback controversy.

An hour later, the Sabres took on the Rangers and for a while it looked like they wouldn’t come out of NYC with a point. Lots of penalties cost the Sabres but the better team prevailed in the 3rd by scoring a couple nice goals to tie it up.
We finally avoided a shootout and won it on a nice goal by Briere. Biron played well but most importantly…he has a super-spiffy new helmet. Next game is Friday downtown against Florida

And yesterday UB kicked some major Kent State ass yesterday with a 41-14 win. NFHS graduate James Starks ran for 162 yards. Of course that’s the one UB game I miss this season.

Bound to happen

example
We finally lost a game in regulation and we finally lost to Toronto at the HSBC Arena so that’s really no big deal.

But ummm Afinogenov is out for “a while” according to Lindy Ruff…that is a big deal.

Tomorrow 5pm @ the Madison Square Garden. Hopefully with Biron in net

Starting to move along quicker (at least visibly).
Not a fan of the dark windows. Very lame, especially for a 1st floor store.
