“Reprieve”: Ani’s newest and most nap-worthy work

Example
Pregnant and with an arthritic wrist, Ani Difranco still did her annual duty of releasing a new album. “Reprieve” is her 2006 work and fits in with the rest. Always a woman with attitude and some strong opinions on politics and life in general, she makes her thoughts clear throughout the album. Although most of the album will bore any non-ani fan there are some goodies along the way like “Nicotine”, “78% h2o”, “Millenium Theatre” (extremely political track), and “Half-Assed”. Overall its a lot like her other albums but without as many gems along the way. I’ll give it 2.5 buffaloes out of 5. Looks like she won’t win my album of the year title two years in a row afterall.

HealthNow HQ update

example
More than most projects that happen in Buffalo, this one has been moving at great speed since day one. After grouding the place in January, one half of the building has all its brick in with the windows coming up. The glamourous glass facade facing the waterfront still has a long way to go but most of the steel beams are in.

Of course, if you’re super cool-you can just watch the construction webcam everyday

Today’s phrase: “Douchebag” or “Seneca Nation”

example
Anyone who is frustrated with Mayor Brown’s stance on Fulton Street and sympathizes with Barry Snyder because the Casino won’t look as nice because they don’t have that street…let me say this.

The Seneca Nation never had Fulton Street. It was a cheap, douchebag move to refuse to sign a document saying they wouldn’t purchase more land because “it is an insult to the culture and heritage of the seneca nation to make us sign an agreement…take our word that we wont ask for more land.” It was also a cheap, douchebag move to make blueprints and release them to the public in a grandiose way using property that you don’t even fucking have…making Buffalonians go “oh man, we better give them Fulton or else it won’t look as nice.”
I’m not even anti-casino. You already have an unfair business advantage…but then manipulating the government you’re taking the land from and manipulating the public your about to milk dry with your slot machines….that’s pretty lame.

God I hate douchebags. Especailly tax-free ones.
