The end of an era

Augh. Looks like BuffaloRising is finally gonna put a stopto the psycho cyber-losers who spend their lives trashing everyone in the comments section
But I am a strong man, I will find something else to entertain me…hopefully
RIP “L” and all the others.
Hi dagger, welcome to the coffin

Today’s BuffaloNews reports on the extensive and extremely impressive list of new stores and shops coming to the Galleria Mall in a urban streetscape setting. On the list is a lot of trendy stores that are seen in upscale areas, cities included.
Well not in Buffalo though. Cheektowaga continues to become a mini-city while the actual city that makes Cheektowaga what it is…struggles…mightily.
It’s great to have a lot of these new stores in the Buffalo area, I know I’ll be frequenting Urban Outfitters especially but it’s sad to see that this project pretty much kills any non-heavily subsidized retail project come downtown.
Soooo basically we need the casino and BassPro to happen. Its downtown’s only shot at attracting future retailers.
PS Urban Outfitters would have been perfect on Elmwood, even in the University Heights…I wonder if these stores have ever even seen the city, maybe they would have given it the chance.
Here’s BuffaloGeek’s two cents
A different type of Taliban

The designs for the new Park Lane 20 story condo hasn’t even been released and there is already huge opposition.
Will someone tell these people they are living in a fuckin city? It’s quite simple, really. Successful cities in the civilized world build tall buildings…sometimes they’re pretty too!
You can call them NIMBY’s or BANNANA’s all you want, I’m calling them the Development Taliban.
No, its not catchy but it’s an appropriate name.
I Need a few good men…and women
Um yeah ignore this what used to be on this post. I’m gonna start off solo on this project and later on i’ll be goin public with it.
Plate hustlin’

Since before I was born, my parents have owned a pretty serious collection of Buffalo China. And only recently was I informed that my mom collected it by stealing it from the UB dining halls back in 1979.
Is it wrong that I just laugh whenever I remember why we have this set?
It’s funny cuz its true.
On Buffalorising today there is a naming contest for the guy on the logo of “Old Home Week” and one commenter proposed this…
“Another very Buffalonian name: Rocco. In any other city, a Rocco would get laughed at. In Buffalo, meanwhile, you could slap it on your business card and most wouldn’t give it a second thought.”
Kinda like how in Buffalo, wearing a brown suit is actually acceptable and even kinda stylish *shudder*
Oh and don’t forget “Zubaz” pants too.
And according to the BuffaloNews we can add having a policeman get arrested four times before losing his job.
…anyone else have some “only in buffalo” observations?
Really, REALLY big twirly thingies

Apparently we’re getting eight huge windmills on the former Bethlehem Steel sight that will be about the same height as City Hall. Interesting.
Mayor Brown allegedly confirmed this on the radio but the info is nowhere to be found. Anyonw know the deally-o?
*EDIT: yes, it has been confirmed, see the 1st comment inside for an explanation
This town is too small for two JP’s

JP Dumont’s 1year, 2.9 mil contract awarded through arbitration was rejected by the Sabres. Chances are he’ll be gobbled up immediatley through free agency with his solid career numbers in the “dead puck” era.
Sucks to be in a small market, eh?
