Help Wanted
Wow guys…I really don’t think i can keep this site up much anymore so here is the circumstance…
1. I dont see myself having the time to make this blog daily anymore
2. I need people to become contributors so i can keep this site fresh
3. If I dont get contributors…this site will prolly be updated once a month…maaaaybee
so feel free to become a contributor…just post a comment and we’ll get in touch
New Era, Old AM&A’s

So New Era wants to take their hat-making empire to Downtown Buffalo. Here’s my idea:
Take over the AM&A’s building and the one next to it (also abandoned) and convert it into the factory in addition to a NewEra store. If you like hats like I do, you realize they are probably the best name in the game so that store would have no problem getting customers. Store or not, the space there would be enough for a hat factory I assume and would be great for the downtown economy.
…it reall doesn’t matter to me where in downtown they put it. All that matters is that THEY ACTUALLY MOVE DOWNTOWN. DON’T MESS UP, CITY HALL!
Main Place Casino

This is probably the best place for it (being for or against it doesn’t matter by the way). Let’s face it, Main Place Mall is a pretty crappy mall even by the standards of someone who is blindly in love with the city (stop looking at me!) Two great outcomes derive from the Casino taking this location
1. Main Place Mall actually gets people and therefore becomes a less depressing place, further instilling curiosity into other people who have never dared step foot in the building
2. The Casino’s attraction will help get rid of those depressingly crappy stores right in the heart of main street that appeal to…um…no one i think. And because of that, potentially appealing stores/resteraunts will pop up right around it.
Beggars can’t be choosers. The casino will help us and it will create more things around it. I think the good that comes with this project will outweigh the bad.
What are we gonna do with you?

I took a walk from Main Street all the way down Broadway and by the time I got to Central Terminal I realized this…
There is nothing within the realm of reality that we can do to make this beautiful building as useful as it once was. Nothing about the community aroud it could let it become anything important. The truth hurts sometimes.

Did You Know?
That the Buffalo Metro transforms into the NFTA Mental Asylumn on wheels at sundown?
I just found out today.
…i return to regular bloggin status w.a new blog to announce as well starting tomorrow night!
Broadway Is Dark Tonight…
Yesterday, in my quest to go to Central Terminal, I walked from Main Street, to Broadway, aaaaall the way down to the Central Terminal. Most depressing commercial street ever. I took tons of pics but i don’t have access to my USB port until wednesday. I walked back though on William Street…not too shabby for where its located. Everyhouse on the street is brand new, it was quite refreshing.
But the main story…Central Terminal.

Wow. Words do not describe that experience, pushing myself through 4ft high weeds to get to the platform, walking around the building in awe…the silence so silent that the movement of a grasshopper made me flip out, the darkness inside-i couldnt see my own hand! Truly incredible. Incredible pics next week when i get back to normal schedule.
Blogger Break
To all five people who check this daily and the 30 or so daily random people who stumble accross this beautiful blog:
I’m gonna take a little break from talking about Buffalo for the next week…i’ll be back and we might even have a new addition to the “All Things Buffalo” family so don’t forget about me! Believe in Buffalo!
Central Casino
There is nothing else we can do (rationally) with this beautiful/decaying building…the East Side is struggling, why not help out this not-so-supported/visted part of town. It’s only 2miles from Downtown and would automatically be an attraction just by the building itself. This obviously won’t happen since the Mayor is insistent on a downtown jump-off…as long it’s not the Waterfront. But until then, what the hell are we gonna do with this amazing art deco gem?

This is Pyongyang, North Korea
Allright, so we’re not starvin, our dear leader isn’t short or developing nuclear weapons

but look at our downtowns…
no one to be found, the few who work there don’t stick around after 5, our hotels are empty, tourism is weak, and we have a metro system that is seldom used
…just a thought
at least our wings and beef on weck beats their kim-chi and roast dog
